I took this shot some time ago. I was trying to get some good shots of the storm and had been there a while. It was starting to get dark and I was freezing, just about to go home when this happened! Its not what I consider my 'best photo' but its the one I'm most 'famous' for amongst my friends.

03/14/2009 11:42:35 AM
Great timing. I cannot imagine how cold it was at the time of this shot.
03/14/2009 10:19:54 AM
Works well with the sea dwarfing the lighthouse.
03/14/2009 08:53:23 AM
This made me say whhhoooah! very nice. 9

03/13/2009 08:00:10 PM
WOW! Im usually not to fond of sea photos but I imagine coastal folk could say the same about land photos but wow, great job capturing the raw power of the sea.
03/13/2009 07:52:31 PM
This looks violent! Cool capture.

Wow, perfectly catched. Would not want to sit on the beacon...
03/13/2009 12:15:45 PM
WOW That is a little bit scary! They make that lighthouse looked minuscule. What an awesome thing to capture.
03/13/2009 11:32:05 AM
Oh! Wow! I'd love to have been there! Pretty impressive!
03/13/2009 11:16:41 AM
What a dramatic picture! I hope you were on shore!
03/13/2009 09:56:04 AM
Yikes. Do not what to be in that lighthouse! VERY powerful what water can do and you captured that well here.
03/13/2009 09:29:31 AM
That is just incredible.

But is it real? Some of the patterns in the waves look oddly identical.
03/13/2009 04:05:40 AM
Wow. I seldom see a wave hit so evenly.
03/13/2009 03:53:52 AM
That is the most amazing wave, awesome image, well done :)
03/13/2009 03:21:04 AM
Spuh-LASH! Nice capture!
03/13/2009 01:47:42 AM
Power of nature always inspires me. This is terrific. Possibly best in show.
03/13/2009 01:09:07 AM
What a big wave! WOW! That must have been quite a storm. You captured its power quite beautifully.
03/12/2009 11:16:02 PM
I am constantly amazed that these lighthouses can withstand even one of these waves. Much less years of them! Amazing capture. I hope you were in a safe place when you took this...
03/12/2009 11:13:48 PM
Voted earlier coming back to comment now. Nature shows off impressive displays of force and this is just one of them. It must have been even more impressive to see and hear the roar and crash of the waves. Holy cow, those storm waves are extremely high - the inclusion of the lighthouse to the far right gives us a sense of size and scale. Colors show of the hues of a stormy and windblown day with the whites of the frothy waves and the cool steel blue grey sky. Great capture!
03/12/2009 11:10:07 PM
Impressive waves! It's almost like a dance.
03/12/2009 09:34:32 PM
That's intense... great capture!

03/12/2009 08:24:39 PM
WOW! Very impressive waves, just the right amount of motion
03/12/2009 04:36:10 PM
incredible how they knew where to put the lighthouse so it would miss those waves!
great shot - very dramatic
03/12/2009 02:41:16 PM
Wow, what a capture. I like the small scale of the lighthouse in comparison to the wave.
03/12/2009 02:13:25 PM
nice moment to capture, too bad the light was so flat
03/12/2009 02:05:35 PM
Oh wow, that is a enormous wave. I'd love to see a close up shot.
03/12/2009 12:29:19 PM

03/12/2009 05:27:40 AM
Looks a bit lumpy! Good capture of nature in motion
03/12/2009 04:51:02 AM
Great timing! Somehow the visual impact is not that high. I think the dam in the foreground distracts to much.
03/12/2009 04:31:56 AM
Amazing waves!
03/12/2009 01:30:00 AM

Amazing that this forms like this. The photo is tremendous.
03/11/2009 10:34:55 PM
Excellent shot, wow. It would have also been cool to zoom in closer to the lighthouse for more impact. I love the detail in the crashing water. Cool.
03/11/2009 09:58:45 PM
Words just can't even describe this shot, simply wow, amazing. This belongs somewhere in a collection of great storm photos, national geographic perhaps, my 12 year old says "now that is coooool"!

Doesn't look like a friendly wave :-O Could use a bit more contrast, maybe. The tones are a little soft for the power of the waves.
