Australian Pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus)
This is a close up of one of the 'locals' taken while on holiday on the Sunshine coast. Natural light (early morning - very slightly overcast). Had to lie in the sand to get a low angle that gave me some blue sky in the background (would have liked more blue).
I long time follower of DPChallenge, but my first submission, of hopefully many!

I am fascinated with pelican photos, probably because I've only seen pelicans twice in my life. I like the close crop and the colours.

Isn't nature just amazing???? I can't get over the colors on this guy. Incredible detail on the beak and eye. Love the blurred background, it really makes this pop. I just wish the crop wasn't so tight. I'd have loved to see more of him.
