One of my favorite lighthouses, the Owl's Head, Maine light is just 30' tall, but sits on top of a hill, placing 100' above the water.

I applied the "Ansel Adams" effect that can be found in Scott Kelby's "The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers." It doesn't work for everything, but I hope it works for this.

Black and white was a good choice for this.

Dramatic. Nice pov. Like the b&w.

Very nice use of IR. The sky might be too black though to present a jet black lighthouse against (the top anyway). The tree and grass work very well -- I'd have liked to see a bit more on the left, maybe using more of the stairs for leading lines/perspective. (Not voting, just commenting.)

Nice low prespective to create the vision of how long the walk up the stairs is.

I usually like very dark skies in bw, but here the contrast is a bit high, the top of the lighthouse blends with the sky

I love lighthouses. This looks like a tough shot with the lighting you were working with. The right hand rail is too hot, as is the bottom of the lighthouse. The top of the lighthouse blends into the sky. I like the tree alongside the stairs a lot.

I think this is a really good shot. I love the angle and the varying textures - the gnarled tree, the weathered steps, the clean lines of the lighthouse, the soft vegetation, the puffy clouds, etc. It's so much to look at and enjoy, but it's also a bit hard to figure out what the main subject is.

It's really drawn me in, though, and I really couldn't say which element could be left out. The more I look, the more it's drawn me in.

Nice to include the tree but it kind of feels that too much is missing on the other side of the frame. It is sort of squished to the left. Nice black and white.

seems a bit bright, but I like the pathway that leads you to the lighthouse...the top of the photo has "richer tones"...I like that better
