this is definitely one to hang on to and certainly has a level of emotional impact in what it shows. I voted it 4 as a photo (snapshot) and pushed it up 1 for the 'hidden gem' value. I am not american, so the emotional impact is much less for me than the historical import for me.

A very well composed and exposed snapshot! The kite is a trial run/omen? Nicely seen, wisely saved, timely shown.

I'll disagree with some of the commenters to cut out the park part on the left. It adds to the element of "just a normal day" to this shot. Came back to find this one and say thanks for including it in this challenge.

This finished near the bottom as I thought it might except for the historical interest. This a tough crew.
I worked within sight of the towers during their construction; then later on TV watched them fall.
Thanks for all the comments. You who did clearly understood why I posted it even if more or less little more than a snapshot.

Wow, you really dug back for this one. It's a pretty simple pic but is emotive for obvious reasons.

Not a particularly impressive photo except for the historic significance. The people seem happy as if they lived in a world more innocent... On second thought, disregard the first sentence.

i would love to see this scene in the evening light. the light here is not very pleasant, too harsh. also the left part of the image is distracting. but it has a great historical value, i believe these are the WTC twin towers?

Voted earlier coming back now to leave comments. Just an every day scene and capture with no special meaning, right? Wrong. I first looked at this and must admit that was my first thoughts for a few seconds. Yes, it is a capture of everyday life with nothing that stands out ...at least for the moment of time that this actually occured in real time. How are we to know the future that comes along later to change the landscape and forever burn the event into our consciousness and history? I stopped in my tracks when I spotted the skyline in the backdrop...the twin towers that are no more. Lomo photography captures the scenes of everyday life and some do it much better than others. I think that this shows an interesting slice of life. We go about our daily lives seeing things that are there and just carrying on. It is when they are absent and most especially absent through a violent action that we begin to notice or feel the specialness of what once was. Most will just write this off as a snapshot without looking deeper. Thank you for sharing this - it shows us the special nature of a carefree day of walking along seeing the sights and the 'once was'.

It seems so strange to see them there...my heart jumped when I my eyes caught them. It's interesting how an everyday sort of candid takes on a new power when something that once was is no longer. And the fact that everyone in the foreground is looking away from them, but a man in black somewhat further away seems to be staring at me, somehow adds to the impact for me. It reminds us how things can change in an instant.

Before the world blew up... for me, with the view of the WTC outside my kitchen window, this is a rather shocking photo in that it takes me back to a real world a long long time ago...

At first glance, my thoughts are that this really has a snapshot feel to it.
Upon further inspection, I see a part of the skyline that is truly significant. So from an artistic stand point this is kinda blah. From a documentary stand point I'd say this is an important image in your collection. I'd be interested in seeing when this was shot.
