My favorite thing about this is that you left the tall branches without color in the line of the "paint" - that took work!!

This is a great idea but the processing detracts from the overall image.. Such a shame as it really is such a good idea.

Nice concept for selective desat. good skills and good luck as I am pretty sure a lot on DPC do not really like selective desats. 7

One of the few BW+Color shots where I find the technique adds to the picture.

03/13/2009 02:41:55 PM
This is a terrific concept, but I personally think the contrast is much to harsh, and the colors over-saturated. Otherwise, this looks pretty nice!
  Photographer found comment helpful.
03/13/2009 02:12:38 PM
the colours arent' working for me, sorry. because of the sharpening/hardening treatment, they're coming over with no detail in the leaves.

Oh this is absolutely clever and well presented!!!! The attention to detail is something that also makes this composition enjoyable to look upon. *LOVE* the expression on the child as he joyfully and with much glee tosses the color on the bushes. I like how the 'cans of paint' are Scotts brand...a brand of turf and plant feed. I guess they have now gone into paint colors now;-) And the paint can colors are labeled with the season and the color too! The black and white treatment is great for you have a nice dynamic range of tones.
