| spectacular shot! I don't do many sitting bird shots, because I'm so fascinated with the flying. But this reminds me how wonderful a perching bird shot can be!! |

| She reminds me of the Queen Mother all puffed up and with that peak on her head... I took a male cardinal at about forty feet away last week and was delighted to have done that well. This is a beautiful example of photography and I can't imagine improving on it in any way. Even the little branch is perfectly positioned. Bravo. |

| I'm not a bird photographer, but I have tried and I have a couple of nice shots. I've got just enough experience to realize how hard it is. This capture is absolutely amazing in it's detail, and lighting. You must have had a great overcast day for this photo. No glare spots on the beak or feathers, which is near impossible to control. Well done, 10 from me! |

| Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. Fabulous detail in the feathers and body of this little bird! Love how we can see the fine textures of the feathers in this close-up shot! The coloration around it's face and the shape of the beak as well as the stare makes me think that this little bird is very grumpy and angry at our intrusion:-) |

I'm hoping to leave comments on as many photo's in this challenge as possible... out of (currently) 1124 images, I gave 30 of them a 9. Your image was one of those 30.
I'm a real bird lover, and a sucker for close up birdie portraits. There are a few in this challenge, but this one excels. She is indeed a gem. The crop is perfect, and the colour palate is so subtle yet effective. It's hard to predict the top photos where there are over a thousand to choose from, but this is surely top 20 material.
Good luck for a strong finish in this challenge. |
