One of my few 10's, love this shot!
03/18/2009 10:14:43 PM
Pure and beautiful.

I love it!
03/18/2009 07:58:55 PM
I didn't vote in this challenge, but I would have given it an 11. Represents so many things I enjoy- fishing, water, the outdoors and photography. And it represents this so well.
03/18/2009 02:07:47 AM
I'd given this a 9. Loved this shot, especially how we can see the sheen on water on the fish and the reflective qualities.

Jump up. That was ice.
03/17/2009 06:56:21 PM
Good capture, I can't really figure out the angle of the shot/fish/water? but that's cool, the composition is good and it nicely balanced.
03/17/2009 05:19:58 PM
Great capture. Real sense of action and power
03/17/2009 02:54:21 PM

03/17/2009 09:46:11 AM
Great timing and nice shot.
03/16/2009 11:10:50 PM
This is terrific! So unusual yet identifiable perspective. The almost monotone coloration is immensely appealing.
03/16/2009 07:08:50 PM
Cool prespective. I like the action shot.
03/15/2009 11:51:15 PM
Fantastic. I'm a sucker for cool fish shots in general, but this is extraordinary. I would have probably processed it a bit differently, but no matter, it's still wonderful. Hey, I just stumbled across this bad boy on 1x! Looks awesome in large. :)
03/15/2009 11:10:53 PM
Great capture, well focused and tack sharp.
03/15/2009 09:37:04 PM

Stunning capture, shame we can't see his face :) Good luck for the challenge.

Voted earlier coming back to leave commentary. Holy moly what a great action shot of this fish leaping up into the waters!!!! I get the idea that this is some form of salmon or other type of fish that swims upstream against the current. That is why I say it is leaping up into the waters above. Great capture of the water splashes and the detail in the fin, tail and scales is wonderful. Love the action going on in this shot. One doesn't always have control of the elements but it would certainly catapult this great shot into the exceptionally good category if you lucked out and caught the head and eye showing. It is still a wonderful shot though, great job!
03/15/2009 05:59:05 AM
Nice and bright jumping salmon with a very nice wet view.
03/15/2009 05:36:27 AM
Excellent capture of a tough subject. I've tried this once before and I'm keen to do it again. Looks like you had good light, so you were able to attain a deep DOF which is useful when you don't know where they'll jump. Would have been nice to see the eyes though.
03/15/2009 12:14:19 AM
Great shot

I'm hoping to leave comments on as many photo's in this challenge as possible... out of (currently) 1116 images, I gave 97 of them an 8. Your image was one of those 97, placing you well within the top 10% for this challenge.

This is a great action shot, and of a subject I figure is hard to predict. I'd have scored it higher if the fish was facing towards the camera, but I guess even if you asked him nicely, he was probably in too much of a hurry :-)

Good luck for a strong finish in this challenge.
03/14/2009 08:31:45 PM
Wonderful timing on this image.
03/14/2009 07:31:28 PM

Great capture. Good job on the focus for such a quick shot.
03/14/2009 04:54:49 PM
Caught the moment well. Great clarity.
03/14/2009 04:32:02 PM
There is something so incredibly compelling about this shot. Maybe the desaturated colors, the incredible detail on the water and fish, or the perspective. Fab, a fave.
03/14/2009 03:55:58 PM
Nice shot. good tones clarity.
03/14/2009 01:03:42 PM
really neat shot, almost abstract in feel
03/14/2009 11:12:39 AM
so sharp great get
03/14/2009 10:18:55 AM
maybe next time position the fish the other way so we can see its head, or wait for a grizzly bears paw to swipe at it. (totally kidding!) this is a really great capture, good timing and wonderful clarity. 10

03/11/2009 08:05:22 PM

03/11/2009 03:49:27 PM
Although the photo is a little oversharpened, I like the composition and movement

03/11/2009 11:14:56 AM

03/11/2009 09:13:22 AM
way oversharpened
03/11/2009 09:08:39 AM
Very abstract. I like it.
03/11/2009 07:52:41 AM
Aka 'the ass of a bass'. Too bad we can't see it from the front.
03/11/2009 05:46:50 AM
Nice!
03/11/2009 02:51:51 AM
Wonderful capture.

Some more contrast and sharpness may have been the ticket.
03/11/2009 01:03:15 AM
I am not sure what angle I should be looking at. Did you shoot the fish from above, or from the side?
