Um, not exactly an original idea, I know. I do like to go down to the Tidal Basin every few years because it *is* really pretty when all the cherry trees are in bloom, even if every photographer in town is there ;-) The trick is to get a shot with no obvious tourists!

PP - converted from RAW, white balance, levels, increased saturation and contrast, 2nd layer (painted dark blossoms white, painted background stuff slightly whiter, brightened, merged in soft light mode), dodged a bit more, colored water a nicer blue, cloned out hotspots, added border, resized, sharpened, added text.

Nailed it! I think a touch more sun on the Washington monument would have helped, but it's not totally buried in shadows. I think you were dealing with the same cloudy day as the previous D.C. photo I voted on.

Very nice postcard like shot. I've seen a few so far where the clouds let the shot down, but I think the clouds in yours work very well. The trees in the foreground nicely frame the monument as well.

Very good use of the cherry blossoms to frame your shot, font is appropriate to the vintage feel

I think this might have been improved (as a postcard, not as a picture) by including the title as text. Lovely picture.

Great depth of field and a classic postcard image, and while postcards to tend toward the supersaturated, the blue of the sky here is a touch overdone, and more importantly it draws the eye away from the Smithsonian, monument and blossoms. Despite that, top ten.

A tough one to rate because the composition is perfect, the subject matter is perfect, the font selection and placement is perfect, but the image lacks somewhat in execution. If the color on the blossoms on the right had been carried over to the left, it would have worked perfectly and made the slightly washed out background stand out. As it is though, it's a good depiction of the general impression if you will of Washington. Very nice - good job.

I would love to see Washington at cherry blossom time!!! This is a classic shot and I would buy this postcard.

Now to the technicals......seems a bit oversharpened or contrasty on the blossoms on the left, could be just the sunlight. 8 from me.
