unique idea, seems to be overly noise-reduced, though

It would have been really interesting if one side of the pencils were NOT sharpened/started, to show the difference between the left side (sharpened) and non sharpened!

Love the idea/title/concept. And to use the pencil sharpener as the "zipper" piece was a great idea.

Nicely done. Pencils aren't too out of focus and yet a very sharp focus on the sharpener. Simple background that brings the attention to the subjects.

A very creative look at colored pencils - the image meets the subject matter and with a certain classical attitude. A terrific demonstration of the creative process in meeting the challenge. Should be a sure bet to win a ribbon or place high as a top twenty image. A couple of minor detail problems not worth mentioning because they don't appear until you really get a critical eye and examine the image closely. Well done.

Already voted, back to leave a comment...I really like your composition here. The use of the pencil sharpener as the zipper is genius. The pencils are set up perfectly. The only thing that I would have liked to see is for all of the top pencils to be sharp. Some of them are a little dull and that takes away from the picture a little, but that is such a little thing I didn't take points away for it, I just think it would have helped with the balance of the picture.
