My first self portrait. The most fun I've had taking a shot for DPchallenge. The trick was to angle all the shards of mirror towards the camera (using balls of paper towel on a purple bath towel). Spent the day setting the timer and running back and forth to the camera, which I set on my tripod at 2 feet from the floor. It took a while before I could get the right facial expression. Why the shirt and tie? I knew I wanted the final shot to be black and white, so I thought it might add to the picture. Rotate 180 degrees. Cropped approx. 50%, unsharp mask, convert to black and white.
Note: I got the mirror when I bought my house. It was in my shed and was already broken. I just broke it some more. Technically, I shouldn't have 7 years of back luck ... I hope. :)

It has been a long time since I viewed this shot. Love it, Jacko! Very creative! This was the start of your green ribbon collection. :-)

I would have given this a higher score if the expression didn't look so staged. The composition is pretty good.

Very nice. The shards of glass are displayed nicey and it is in good focus. The only thing that I don't like about it is the slight graininess of the photo. It meets the challenge well. 9

Out of all the broken mirror shots this week, this is the only one that I like. I appreciate the way that you thought out what was going to be reflecting and how and what a great expression. It makes me think of an Alfred Hitchcock movie for some reason.

Well executed and broad in appeal

This was the first idea I had. You've executed it well, and the B&W sets it off. Well done. (Nice expression, too)

From the look on the guy's face, I think you smashed the mirror with his new digital camera. Well done - Inspzil

I like the arrangement of shards in this photo, but I really really wish it reflected a more neutral expression. It seems kinda cheesy this way.

Ok, I had a hard time deciding this week, but I'm giving you my weekly "Alan's Surefire Pick of the Week Award!" I have correctly picked the winner the last two weeks, so let's see if I can make it three in a row! You're my only 10 this week. Nice job -- I love the facial expression!

I wanted to do this all week, but couldn't find a mirror I liked that I didn't mind breaking. Besides, I didn't need 7 years bad!! God job on the focus and direction. How did it look in color? DPz
