Very close to a straight image, really, a touch of Topaz Clarify to bring out details...

************

I am rather dismayed by the poor finish of this image, which I had thought was excellent, if understated, in every respect... I mean, it was a *tree* challenge, and if I did nothing else I paid proper regards to a truly fine, 250+ year-old, specimen Beech tree in a nearby township. Plus, of course, it's a very *interesting* tree, bifurcated as it is. And I think the light's just optimum for this shot, and i didn't go overboard on the processing, and, geesh.... I donno, it's depressing :-(

Voting has gotten harsher of late. Your average on this is a good score in my book. This did not come up for me in voting but I think I would have probably given it a 7. At least a 6. I agree that you tossed just the right amount of Topaz at it. It picked up some wonderful detail of the lightplay on the tree trunk without making it look totally unrealistic.

Would be nice to hear feedback from some of the low voters occasionally.

I'm not sure why this didn't finish higher, but the scoring in this one was odd. I liked how the tree was centered. Your processing really did a wonderful job in bringing out details and emphasizing the light.

You can't use a word like "bifurcated" and expect the masses to understand. And you beat me by nearly 100 spots, though yours is by far the better photograph.

Excellent composition based on textures with lots of pleasant detail.
I like the processing here...kind of sick and tired of oversharppened images
Good luck.....8

Love the colors, and the texture of the tree. This is more than just a simple tree picture. Great crop 7
