PostLuminous Award Nominee!
Well, this, for me, is an example of why I love photography. This has the mood, the composition, the lighting, the technique, but more than all of that, at first sight of this image there is absolutely no question "why" you pressed the shutter release. I think this particular challenge was not worthy of this entry--this is, to me, a fine art image.

Thanks everyone for the comments! I wasn't sure how this would score since I only have a shadow of a tree in the shot but wanted to submit it anyway. I'm pleased to have such wonderful comments. Thanks! I really appreciate all of them! :)

Well, this was certainly one of my favourites in this challenge and one of my highest scores. Sorry it didn't do better.

In hindsight, I should have anticipated such a score and compensated for it when voting, instead of sticking to my usual rigor.

Crikey! The placement of this reminds me, not that I really needed it, that DPC really is not representative of the world of art and photography! :)

What on earth is this doing all the way down at 168th? One of the very best in the challenge.

I like this one. The tree looks like it is dancing with them.

Coming back to comment - Unique way of having the tree in your photo. I like the use of shadows in this and nice lighting on the couple.

Wonderful portrait, extremely intimate and romantic, very Cartier-Bresson but perhaps even better.

Remarks: Despite the toned-down brightness/contrast, highlight details are lost in the white shirt. On the other hand, the arboreal silhouette drawn here works such wonderful magic both aesthetically and compositionally, I cannot help but imagine the dancers as proxy via the shadows they throw. Their, perhaps, unavoidable inclusion (as sources for their shadows) strikes me as nearly redundant in this context.

Given the interest and quality of competing entries in this challenge, there can be no contest, IMO. It is and remains, in my view, the only photograph to consider.

Very nice shot - dancers are much more interesting than the trees though...
