Yeah, this is WAAYY too busy, but I had fun. This took a long time to do, really, tons of layers as you can see here from my workflow print screen:

Basically, I used several textures to create the background:
normal mode
overlay mode 20% opacity
overlay mode 70% opacity
overlay mode 40% opacity
Then I kept pasting in filmstrips taken from the one below, and I would resize, crop, rotate etc. to taste. Added drop shadow to all filmstrips.

After I got the arrangment of film strips place on the background, I chose images to go in each filmstrip. I just placed the image as a layer under the filmstrip layer I matched it to, and set the filmstrip layer on multiply mode (image on normal mode).
The wavy filmstrips with nothing in them were created using the wave filter, and they are set on overlay mode.
Then on top of everything I put one more layer
overlay mode 60% opacity
Created new layer composed of all visible layers (ctrl+alt+shift+e), then applied Color Efex Pro old photo filter, lowered opacity to 25%
To create the border I first enlarged the canvas, then made a new layer, used the stroke tool at 15 pixels and then applied a drop shadow. I copied that stroke layer and adjusted the drop shadow to be at the opposite orientation so there's shadow all around the border instead of just one way (be sure to uncheck the "Use Global Light" when you do this)
Voila, a very overly busy overlayed image :-)

When I saw the thumbnail I thought I wouldn't like this, but boy was I wrong! You would think this would be too busy, but somehow you've worked everything together just right, creating a lovely, sunlit melody of images. This is so perfect!

Oh no! Its not too busy at all. Its a delightful plethora of things to look at -- and I almost asked you where your kitties were :) I am so glad to see them again. What you do with overlays is nothing short of amazing -- and combined with your cat photography! It is off the chart, and I look so forward to what you are going to show us over the month.

And THANK YOU AGAIN for sharing all those great sites on overlays and borders!
