There is something different about thsi photo that appeals. I like the way you have gone with the negative space int eh left hand side, and the profile portrait of the kid to the right. The background is very well blurred for this. I usually am not a fan of this style of work, but you have pulled it off with an exceptionally composed and executed image.

Enjoyable use of negative space and non-standard crop to acheive a very good portrait. White of eye seems dull, raising possiblity that a slight boost in brightness at the upper end of a curve might be beneficial.

I love this kind of portrait, it has great impact, and the colours are nice and muted. Great freckles :-)

A good solid image that is crisp, sharp and properly framed and composed - a technical success in every way. From an artistic standpoint, it is an intersting image but of less than universal appeal. The offset is a little strong given the interesting expression and facial features. A slightly stronger angle exposing more face to the profile would have helped. Excellant demonstation of DOF control - great bokeh. A good entry into the challenge.
