I did curves on the eye and and nose since the flash didn't capture the true color of it.

I blured the blue channel to fix the noise.

I unsharp masked the red and green channel since they had less noise.

Yes, the mousehole is real.

exactly :P Must have punched a hole through a wall! LOL! Also, that mouse must have used a scroll saw to cut out something so precise.

By real I meant I didn't add it in PhotoShop.... ooops!

One of my top three images for this challenge. You have excellent sharpness in this image. The color contrast of the cat and the dark mousehole works well. Looks like he has a little eye schmutz which you might have cleaned. But that's just me being incredibly picky. Great DOF on the cat/background. Best part is getting the cat to agree with what you wanted him to do. As a cat owner, I know how tough that is. Very nicely done. 10

I couldn't be more pleased that one of the finest photographs in the challenge is of a cat. I'm sure this will do very well.

Cool perspective. Hole looks a little cardboardy. What a good word.
  Photographer found comment helpful.
05/28/2004 11:54:26 AM
Ow, awesome! It's razor sharp, composition with only one eye showing (and right in the middle) creates real tension, and lighting is perfect. Makes me feel like a scared mouse :-)) Only thing I wonder is whether less black on the left and right sides would improve even more.

FINally! a cat picture with some purpose / relevance to the challenge! well done you! the mouse in a hole point of view is bordering on genius, and i can't imagine how this might be better improved (some mouse furniture maybe, but that's it). the hole to picture ratio is perfect, the focus on the cat technically brilliant... his expression and poise ideal. seriously, this is a 10 and no mistake

Excellent for this challenge. Several notches above similar approaches. Beautiful capture of the cat; its eye, whiskers, fur. Also, good call framing it so you only see one eye.

What a great image.
The detail in the cat'sface is very clear, and the "mouse hole" is out of focus enough to give depth to the shot.

Very well planned and well thought of. The placement of the head off center is quite pleasant. DOF is quite good too. Maybe reduce the grain through neatimage. But overall, a wonderful effort. (How on earth were you able to get your cat to cooperate in this shot?) I give it a ten. Hope you do well.
