When our rubbish collectors were going taking out a pile of leaves and tree branches out of our yard they found a nest of 6 baby hedgehogs. We searched high and low in our yard to find the mum but failed to do so. Eventually my daughters brought them in side and we begin to feed them with a syringe. They are some of the cutest little creatures I have ever seen. Now we will just hope for the best!!

If I'd just given birth to something with spines like that, I'd be outta there too! Great pic!

*Greetings from the Critique Club*

I hope the best for the baby hedgehogs. What I can read from this photo is the helplessness of an abandoned new born.

Composition:

The leaning head to the right gives it a nice perspective. Hedgehogs are kind of "hate" or "love" kind of creatures. Depth of field in this photo is very low. A well focused image would have glorified the hedgehog's bristles (their main peculiarity).

One last thing to consider is that the challenge calls for photographs that show the idea of miniature. This photograph eludes that principle but it is saved by the title. What could you have done to show the true size of this creature? Some kind of contrast object in the composition could have helped this photograph to accomplish the challenge theme even without the explicit title.

Keep up the good work!

Alex

Not pretty, but if I were a mommy hedgehog, he would be beautiful. It really is a fascinating animal shot, however.
