Photographer’s Notes
My wife and I are building a new house and are looking for ideas to incorporate. So we visited an AIA award winning house this afternoon which was open to the public and (uncharacteristically) photography, according to the signs, was welcomed.
In the house, there was a coffee table with a glass top. It had a drawer just beneath it that you could load with whatever you wanted to show through the top. It looked pretty neat so I snapped a quick picture with my iPhone … the only camera I thought to bring. The leaf is above the glass ... the rest is in the drawer below the glass.
It took a little Photoshop work (but nothing exotic) to bring out the details and colors here. I got to thinking about the drawer in the table and … free associating got to “junk drawer.” Who’s junk drawer? The stuff looked like what might be left over after creating the universe … so God’s Junk Drawer and a title was born.
I like the photo and I hope you do too. Not my “usual style” but hey, anybody can learn new tricks. Not my usual camera, but hey, anybody can improvise, right?

Looks like a good CS4 piece than a photo or nine photos.

Amazingly beautiful image and just as amazing that it was taken with an iPhone. Great processing. Never knew that those little phonecams could take such nice sharp detailed shots. We might as well all throw out our expensive bulky DSLR's.

Oh, astonishing. I love the back story. Love the image. As an aside, I've photographed at LEAST 100 AIA award-winning buildings, maybe more, I never kept count...

I was just viewing a few of the entries when I stumbled on this. What a truely fabulous image. So much detail and seemingly random, but when viewing you can see the care that went into the composition. The post processing is awesome too, it has a wonderful 3d feel. Love it! 10
