Greetings from the Critique Club!

Initial impression: Already looks like a car ad, very nicely shot esp with the water spray. I gave this a 7 in voting meaning I thought it very good, but just shy of really popping and making it an 8.

Technical: Great use of ambient light, the rainbow's timing was perfect! Comp and dof good. Not sure if I like the way you did the border. I used to work in advertising so if you were selling this car, yes, the name HILUX should definitely be stressed. To get really picky, it should technically say Toyota Hilux down there, but wouldn't have worked well with this shot and crop.

Artistic: Lucky, lucky you to have such great landscape and natural light to work with...and that rainbow was just sheer luck but good on you to have put it to good use. I find the POV a little ho-hum, but the water spray and rainbow are great and hey, you finished in the top ten!

FWIW: The only thing I'd have tried to do differently is shoot from a lower POV, just to emphasize lines of vehicle emerging from water and the rainbow would still have been there in background.

Feel free to PM me with any questions,

Susan

On our way home, where we looked at some nice waterfalls, it started raining and the sun was trying to shine trough rainbows apearded. We had to cross some small rivers and after crossing one of them I thought "I want some ad for automobile" we changed seats and my wife went bak over the river and took place on the other side and took the shoots, we did it three times on different speed of the truck, it was a bit difficult because there waa som large rocks on the bottom of the ford, but it was OK, this is a strong truck on 35" tiers. And I used the front lights and dumper in the text Hilux: Maybe it was a mistake, but to me it seemed cool, but it probably takes to much attention from the rest of the picture.
Great thanks for the comments, this was the highest rated I've got in this DP.

Very nice capture. Truly makes it a viable ad. I'd probably change the font type and size.

Great capture, I wonder if you had to do this a number of times to get that rainbow in just the right spot!

I like this shot, I think it accomplishes what you've set out to do. The landscape, the water, the mood of the fog are all great and the rainbow just tops it off. This is the sort of thing that would usually be put together using processing effects and computer graphics, so to have captured it all naturally is quite an accomplishment.

It's not the 'prettiest' of the shots, but I think it's definitely one of the best in relation to the challenge. This is exactly what I would expect to see in a magazine or billboard. 10 from me.

Nice catch on that rainbow! You could probably crop in quite a bit and still save enough of the rainbow for it to have the effect you want it too. Why is "Toyota" written so small? It almost looks like you're trying to hide it up there.

A great image, that captures the essance of how you are tryiong to sell the car. The Photo fits in really well with the overall theme you chose. Having the rainbow there is also very good, and adds to the image. The image is sharp, well executed and very well composed.
The Hilux writing though is a bit annoying for me. Having the car in it just grabs more attention I feel than it should. That text in a well chosen colour would have been better.

great action capture-8

the thing that hits you first is the word HILUX and then you start wondering about what's going on within those big letters. ....eventually you get round to appraising the rest of the picture, which is great. In other words, the style of lettering distracts the viewer from the clever rainbow connection.
Of course that's my subjective opinion - others may praise the thing I'm knocking - good luck.
(In the meantime you could try selling this to Toyota) -9

Helluva capture I Sure as heck hope that rainbow was really there :-) (Just kidding, I am sure it was. It's a very nice shot.

I'm not wild about the text effects in "Hilux", but what the heck... I just hope that all that texture effect on the type is actually legal, I wouldn't have dared to do it based on the clipart rule. Also, I'm bugged by the way the border effect is different on the two opposite angles of the image...

All in all I like it a lot, and it gets a 7 from me for now at least... Good luck!
