HMH-361 and VMGR-352 practice aerial refueling in Afghanistan.
I cant imagine how difficult this must be for the chopper pilots. Sitting there in the jump seat I was amazed at the skill of the pilots on both aircraft.

Post Challenge:
Wow thanks all, I didn't think this fell into the 'Unusual Objects' category but it was an unusual occurrence so that was enough justification for me. Thank you all for the continued support and encouragement.

As seen in my book "Actuality"

Before I read your comments, I had virtually the same reaction. I've seen many films over the years depicting this activity, but never from this perspective nor this quality. Congratulations!

ETA: I just re-read that this is a helicopter, not a jet. I don't think I've ever seen that! :-)

This is an absolutely phenomenal image. Brilliant! To have the opportunity to take such a shot is mind blowing in itself, but that you've executed it as perfectly as you have just blows me away. This is one of my all-time faves on DPC.

Scored this one a 10. Every time I see it, it still blows me away. Fits the theme very well from my perspective. :)

Certainly a rarely photographed subject. An unusual angle creating cone-head helmets ... a certain amount of poetic justice there I think. I like it and am giving it best in show. Well done.

Cory, did you ever find out what the extra joystick was all about? Sorry, bud but since I know this is yours I'm not going to vote on it. Good shot though.
