This is Greystoke hanging out on the barbeque. All of the cats like to drape themselves over the bricks we have there to keep the cover from blowing off, probably because they are nice and warm.
Processing:
Crop
Color Efex Pro tonal contrast on cat only
Silver Efex Pro to convert to b&w, one version underexposed to darken the background, and one version to accentuate the cat, then with the dark version on top mask out the cat portion
Even out background more by painting black on a layer in soft light mode

Gorgeous. And I've been using the same sort of technique to get the same sort of results. Great minds think alike :-)

I love this - the cat is so intense! I can't believe that was the "before" shot - I'm going back thru all my old work and seeing if there are more creative things I can do with them!

I'm really not a cat fan, but this shot rawks! Outstanding editing! WOW... Beautiful B/W conversion and tonal range. The composition of the edit is terrific too. Extremely well done.

Damn I hate adding cat shots to my favorites, but I'm gonna have to make an exception! HAHAHA!

You have made a good image out of an ordinary shapshot. That's a healthy looking kitty.

Could he be more charming? Gosh, like he's posing for a movie producer. This is wonderful. Your processing is the best. I couldn't like without Nik software. :~)
