Original image for this, but as I had cut off Bruno's lip I got him a transplant from this other shot.
Apart from lip surgery, I have used paintbrush, burn tool, clone tool, blur tool, and smudge tool to isolate Bruno and fade him to black. I also cleaned him up around the eyes a bit with the clone tool.

What a cutie! Great pet portrait! The darkened background/vignetting really makes this image work. Well done.

I think the 'fade to black' works really well here with his natural colouring.

What a handsome boy !

Wow, what a sweet, ernest face! Beautiful portrait. BTW, I have a tip on softening a fur line when replacing backgrounds. If you use Photoshop, use the smudge tool set at a very small diameter (one or two pixels) and strength around 60% (depends on colors), then just make little strokes from the fur onto the background, varying the direction and even the settings. Takes a while but the results are worth it :-)

Bruno looks like you could count on him. Rotti's always seem to be so, so serious, like the secret service that guards the President.

Nice work on the lip transplant....and for having the courage to work with hair and a superimposed background. Love the eyes...

What a charming face. That doggy has a wonderful kindness about him. Rotties are great. :~)
