Challenge: Construction II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D3
Lens: Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX Aspherical DG HSM for Nikon
Location: Marina Bay , Singapore
Date: Jun 16, 2009
Aperture: F14
ISO: 100
Shutter: 8s

Date Uploaded: Jun 16, 2009

Shot of Singapore's new Integrated Resort situated at the Marina Bay.
Scheduled to open late Dec09 , this resort will house Singapore's 1st casino.

Captured at 24mm focal length.
Straight night shot. focused on over enhancing contrast to get more details from the clouds and extracting more details from the yet to be finished buildings as it was a pretty boring day with flat lighting. Clarity was also affected by the presense of haze (from illegal Indonesian fires set by farmers).

The shot does not really excite me. Just following my instincts to participate.Good luck to me, I am sure I will need it.

Looks like you won the battle of Singlapore after all. Congrats on being promoted to 5th.

This is cool--I actually liked this better than the sunset shot--it's moodier. Congrats!

I'm surprised this does not excite you. I find this fascinating... maybe because it is the subject. I bet it is really interesting to watch this type of construction going on in person. Visually, my fave part is the water. It looks like slick glass. Congrats on the top 10!

Pretty darn good showing for a shot you were not thrilled with! I want to be able to do lousy shots like you do someday.

Compared to the other shot in this challenge from the same location, I think I like this one a bit better. It shows more detail and I am partial to the blue tones.

No one should be able to DNMC this one; there's an amazing amount of construction going on! I'd say you picked the perfect time of the evening to capture this one. The cool colors are nice, especially with the warm lights and starbursts for contrast.

Very cool - the cloud texture keeps the sky from being so much empty space. I'd be curious how it'd look if you had gone vertical, and only showed the three towers, and not the stuff to the right - if this would have tightened it up even more.

There's nothing I can really add to an already perfect photo. This one will be in the top for sure!

Excellent twilight capture. I really like the water reflections and starbursts from the sodium vapor light. There sure are alot of cranes!

Wow - this one showed up immediately after the night shot of same subject. Weird. I like them about equally though. This one maybe a little more.

Liked the color of the sky, but skew horizon and dark cloud on the left top made me score it lower.

Nice shot, i'm wondering if this might have worked better with less of a square crop and more of a landscape crop?

this is cool, I would prefer more sky less water, but it should do really well 8/10
