Stanley Steamer in Estes Park, CO. 1911.

My original intent was to post the entire car, as shown below, via thumbnail link:

But, at the limit of "basic" 640 pixels, it looked terrible. It was magnificent at full size, with detail. So, I decided to crop down the image because of the 640 pixel constraint. Yes, I expect to be assaulted with words of derision and low votes of retribution by many for not presenting the entire image. It was a rational decision to show the detail of the car, at the expense of seeing the entire car.

Don't complain to me. Complain to the website management about the anachronistic 640 pixel limitation.

Tuesday morning, June 30. As expected, lots of complaints about not seeing the entire car. It continues to be my opinion that the full car view makes the detail less enjoyable. The 640 pixel constraint is too small.

Your photographer's comments explains why you cropped it this way. But looking at the entire car image, I think it would have worked and I think it would have done much better. My opinion for what it's worth... Very nice car.

I run into the same issue with trying too fit that much detail in a shot. Now that I have read your notes, I appreciate the reasons for the odd crop, but I think it looks good in the uncropped version.

Nonetheless, you did very well with this to pull in a 5.62 in spite of the way the crop was perceived.

get close and get interesting perspectives or get back and get it all.

Like the car, exposure and sharpness are perfect, but why cropped so tight that the front and rear are slightly cut off? If I have to crop this tight, I prefer to zoom in more for a detail shot, or compose it differently.

Great car as the subject. But wondering why crop it like this??? Would have like to have seen the entire car.

Great shot but the framing puzzles me, why not show the rest of this lovely car?

Beautiful car, lovely setting, just a bit too washed out looking with the light intensity.
