Pulled a previous entry for not being sufficiently "silent." But I was determined to find something natural that I see every day and do as little as possible to it, since my understanding of Zen is that (among other things) one is supposed to learn to live in the moment and appreciate things for exactly what they are, as they are.
So this was shot outside in my garden with morning light. Underexposed a little to darken the background. These are wild tiger lilies that I got from a neighbor and planted ... and have been splitting up and moving around the yard for years since. I have lots of them now. Hardy things, native plants!
I did pull a couple of spent flowers off these clusters (and felt guilty for doing it!). But I liked the compositional options better without the droopy bits.
Almost wish this were Minimal editing; that would be very Zen-like IMO ;-) I tried not to mess with this much, in that spirit.
PP - converted from RAW, color balance adjustment and increased saturation on red-yellow, resized, sharpened flowers, added border, blurred jaggy stem, cloned out a spot. |
