Taken at a backyard 4th of July celebration. The kids knew I was there, but couldn't have cared less about it. They just wanted to see things exploding in the air. The light was done with a second ground fireworks that was basically burning magnesium putting off a very bright white light.

I had trouble picking which of a few shots I liked best, but this one is the best combination of expression and dynamic lighting.

Very little is done in PP and, go figure, it was shot at 1/13th at ISO 3200. I didn't have to do any noise reduction at all.

I have to say I pick this as being your entry (is that your daughter on the right). I'm surprised that this didn't ribbon. As I mentioned, this was my favourite photo in the challenge...

Excellent Jason. The varied expressions are priceless. The direction of their individual attention gives the impression of sky full of fireworks (title helps, naturally). Light is harsh, but for me it adds to the scene. Good work.

I gave this a 7. The Norman Rockwell lighting didn't do much for me, but I thought the kids' reactions were great. A great capture.

Looking at your image, I feel I'm looking at a coca-cola ad from the 1950's or something. Love the look on their faces. This is one of my top three. Good luck, and thanks for submitting an image that makes me smile.

Awesome capture! My favorite of the challenge so far. I love the tones..great job on the b/w conversion. My only "critique" would be the shifting of the kids to the right and cutting off the last girl's arm, but the emotion captured on these kid's faces makes up for it.

i love this one.
it is fun to see different expressions on kids faces. i also like the way you converted this "looking down" shot to a "looking up" shot. choice of small aperture to get full details of kids (especially shoes) is a perfect one. tones are beautiful and sepia conversion is immaculate too.

This has to be my favourite image of the challenge. The expressions on the kids faces are priceless... tells the story of kids watch fireworks perfectly, and the sepia processing is perfect. My tip for a ribbon. Well done.
