And some Great Egrets and interesting dead trees in front of the lovely morning skies. I enjoyed the scene; maybe someone else will, too. There must have been 30 Egrets of various kinds, a dozen Great Blue Herons and half a dozen Green Herons at my favorite wetlands park that morning. It was early enough that many of the birds were still roosting, and I thought they looked really beautiful against the bright blue sky. Conveniently, BlueSkies was one of the usernames I had in mind when I went out to shoot ... sometimes I get lucky ;-)

PP - converted from RAW, cropped, levels, white balance, dodged/burnt birds, increased contrast, resized, sharpened, hand-sharpened birds a little more and desaturated yellow shadows on them, added border, erased border where it went in front of trees, cloned out little dark spot right below the border sticking out of one of the trees.

Often I enter challenges, not so much hoping for a good score as wondering what others will think and say about my entry. I apologize for not commenting during voting, it gets overwhelming sometimes. But seeing as this was one of the best images in the challenge, and one of my 8s, but got no comments, I'll give you my impression.

This is a wonderfully composed image, with excellent technicals as well. I admire how you were able to keep the whites intact, but not make the entire image too dark. The way the tree on the right framed and balanced the diagonals of the other trees is also very nice. Thank you.
