Changed my entry 11 minutes before the deadline!! woa!
Made it HDR with photomatix, and CS4 did: selection tool on the flower, levels, saturation, crop, dodge&burn, layer for the border and resize. I had another options but i'm trying with this one! Hope it does ok.

Took it on Av because my camera don't have bracketing settings.

i like it a lot! the idea, the subtle hdr - perfect and not over-the-top. i think though the image would benifit a bit more from a slightly different lighting. maybe more dramatic? if for example only the middle with the flower would be lit, while the sides would be darker, don't you think it would look a bit more put together? maybe i'd increase contrast a bit as well, just play around with some editing. it looks a bit too flat the way it is now, so playing with light and contrast would give the photo more depth and interest and also would help the viewrs to focus on the most important here - the red rose.
amazing though that you took it with powershot:) i read in your profile that you'd love to learn photography, i am sure you'll do very good. good luck! just don't stop trying!

Nice job on this, I see it made your profile page. That always makes for a good one. It got an 8 from me. I also see you appealed to the very hard to please (at least for this challenge) K10Dguy.

HDR is used well here. certainly not extreme, but just enough to show it's there

Way different from everything else in this challenge. A floral, but not a floral. Excellent job.

Precious, yet hardly noticeable HDR> the blurred subject and muted tones amke the flower pop out a lot. Love this, 6/10

Not sure what yu trid to accomplish, but I don't see HDR process here unless you did something to the flower. In that case th eflower should be more in focus and have more detail.

Doesn't look like it's been HDR'ed. Seems very flat.

I shall be rating this challenge by the following criteria:

1 - Not HDR in my opinion

3 - HDR is way over-done, in my opinion

5 - A reasonable use of HDR, but not a very engaging photo, in my opinion

7 - A reasonable use of HDR, and an engaging photo, in my opinion

10 - A fantastic use of HDR, and an out of this world photo, in my opinion

I really like the lighting you captured, but, for HDR challenge, the post processing is a little soft.

HDR...whether natural or 'cartoonish' will generally always have an edge to it. On the monitor I am viewing this image on, the image appears quite flat. Try a little Brightness/Contrast with maybe a BW Gradient Map with a blend mode as well as some Dodge & Burn to make your image pop. For the record...I gave you a 6.
