Whether it was shot with a Nikon, Canon, Sigma, whatever...What does that have to do with his entry?
Are you implying Nikon shots are automatically superior? I would beg to disagree, and so would many others.

let me get this straight. you love anything nikon? what the heck does that have to do with anything?! so you give extra pts to nikons? wow. and you forgive him for possibly using PS? and you dont like anything surreal? and it has a photo contest look? THIS IS A PHOTO CONTEST. sorry if I am missing the point that you have absolutely nothing to say here.

Am I the only one who sees a screaming hamster reflection where the chest is?

Well done on the blue!

Thanks everyone for your votes, comments and encouragement ... a Blue Ribbon! Brilliant!! Personally, I think this is one of my best ever photos.
@mark082: the swirl is actually a pearl necklace, but as it was submerged and the shot was taken on a slow shutter, came out blurred by the current and bubbles on the surface. The chest was completely submerged, so the open wooden chest lid is floating close to the surface but moving due to the current.
@Magnum_za: Yes, the darkness had me questioning myself, but the lighter versions just don't do it for me. The environment was left as i found it except for perhaps a few stray coins that I couldn't reach on the stream bed. I have asked the SC if they can correct my lousy spelling .... fingers crossed :)
10/14/2009 01:09:39 AM
Wd, only 9 I gave out. Pity about the typo :) Maybe SC will let you "fix" it...

Edit: They did!

This is a very literal take on the challenge. I like it, but the quite swirl coming out of the chest detracts from the image. I'm not sure what caused it or if the cause could have been removed. Otherwise, I think the focus should have been on the chest rather than the waterfall. (If my eyes deceive me and the lid of the chest is not out of the water and the chest is completely underwater, ignore my comment and call me an idiot because I know that a clear focus is impossible with the shutter speed used.) I give it a 6.

This is fun and I like the diagonal line created by the composition of the waterfall to the box. Soggy pizza? LOL

Really nicely done and planned. I'm sure you will get a few complaints about the overall darkness and lighting here, but I think it's relevant. Bumped to a 9, as long as its not a dual exposure and you didn't pollute the environment...
