I am absolutely amazed that this got a ribbon with this score. I was sitting at a 6.5414 last night around 2 hours before rollover and I'm sad to see that a lot of my high votes dropped off.

As for the picture, I thought about shooting this shot all week but I couldn't bring myself to buy a $5 jar of PB and waste it by emptying it all out for one shot. So instead I used an old protein shake jar, cut the bottom off of it and lined it with PB. Then I started scraping it out like you normally would when the jar starts to get low and you really need that last little bit of PB for you kid's lunch.

I think I took around 20 actual shots to get this one. The first 15 or so was to get the lighting just right and the other ones was getting the focus on my face. I took this shot about an hour before rollover.

Lighting setup is, 2 SB-800's, one directly above the camera shooting through a 16" softbox and another to camera left about 1/2" away from the side of the jar. That way I was able to light my face and the jar at the same time.

Editing wasn't much. I adjusted the exposure to brighten it up some and I'm pretty sure that was it.

Thank you for all the comments.

Oh, what a glorious tribute to one of my favorite types of sandwiches. Congrats on ribboning with a creative, funny, unique entry! I also think it's cool you pulled off the rare trick of getting a higher score from participants than non-participants. Maybe photographers can better appreciate the humor and difficulty of coming up with a different idea.

Actually quite ingenious! It really looked like a peanut butter jar and what we all do to get the last bits out of it.

Love the concept and the execution of it! Congrats!!!

I knew you were going to beat me from your scores posted in the forum... Glad to see it was a great shot like this one. It also appears you had one more hater than I did. I had three "1's" and 0 "2's" It's about time whoever is posting these "1's" explained themselves. You definitely didn't deserve them. Glad you did well.

Truly creative. It's not my absolute favorite for this challenge, but it matches the topic well and I must say, I've never seen such a great photo of the inside of a peanut butter jar.

I can only hope that you are searching for the last (hidden) 'glob' of crunchy peanut butter. Who in their right mind would eat smooth? Urgh!
