As much as I love my huband, I prefer to be on my own when I’m photographing something…
I wish he could have taken a photo of me trying to get this shot, though. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, now that I think about it ;-) he was out at the time.
As you know, I do most of my shots on the ceramic top of my cooker. I wanted to get a bit higher up this time and I must have looked like a complete nutcase standing on a pile of books in front of the cooker, resting my forehead against the exhaust hood to steady myself and have both hands free to focus on the pocket watch and then move the camera in a wavey movement to the right.
As usual, I took loads of shots and had ones with and without the reflection. I liked this one the best because the reflection under the watch and golden swoosh (thanks for that lovely description colorcarnival) made me think of the graceful movements of a whale with a smaller fish swimming under it (o.k., I admit to having a lot of imagination ;-)
For Rino63: Thanks for your fair vote. The watch was never moved, absolutely no object movement. Also the flash was definitely not flashed on second curtain (never even thought about it). The flash was lying on the same surface as the watch but was pointing away from the whole scene into a darker corner. I placed a packet of teabags between the flash and watch to eliminate/reduce any blown out areas on the metal rim of the watch.
As always, my thanks for the comments, faves, votes and score. Also a big thanks for the ribbon, I'm so thrilled!

The description of you shooting in your kitchen is hilarious and sounds a lot like me. In the house I lived in for four year (until a year and a half ago), I always shot in the kitchen because it had the most room, but the kitchen was on the ground floor and had a giant 3'x5' window that opened onto a busy alley. I provided great entertainment to the people at the bar on the other side of that alley : )

And lovely picture! : ) The detail in the blur is beautiful.

Man, Irene, you just blow me away (that means I love your work)

Thanks Debbi. By cooker, I mean the top (ceramic surface) of my stove.

mmm as my personal opinion seems that there is an object movement with the flash on the second curtain of the camera. 8 but with the doubt of the dnmc.
