Ryan Magnumphotography in a pretty much typical pose - bent over from the waist, studiously composing a shot and of course the trusty Manfrotto tripod holding everything in place. This is a stream in the Gatineau Hills, one of his favourite places to shoot, and where he has taken me to shoot a few times too.

Greetings from the Critique Club

It's been a while Susan, since I've done a critique :)

Well done on the top 30 placing with this image.

I assume you were using a tripod also to get the nice blur of the water.

As far as composition is concerned, I think placing the subject in the centre of the frame has cost you a few points. I have a feeling that if you had chosen to use a horizontal orientation and included a little bit more of the river to the right of the frame you may have had a more dynamic photo which could well have pushed you over the 6.

Overall I think this is rather nicely done. Good job!

Excellent subject, good colors, nice clean and crisp with just enough blur on the water. Overall good shot.
