Fairly incredulous that this has done so well. Comments from so many august selves blow me away; I also hope I can make good on whatever it was I promised posthumous in exchange for the blue.

CC asked and I answer: following the suggestion from someone in the september serendipity side challenge - I forget who - I chose a smallish aperture and low ISO, and lingered on my focus before dancing the camera.

There are so many delightful images in this challenge. I am not wholly convinced this is one of them. It is rather dull after all - poor vibrant red leaf maple sacrificed for some sort of arty nostalgia, or maybe just innocently pushed and pulled to see what came of it. - In fact I meant to submit an entirely other photo, full colour, but it kept having too great a file size, and this one was handy at the 11th hour.

love the gritty texture of this. i can feel how it would feel under my fingers if this were a painting, which it could easily be.

Oh, belated congratulations on a splendid image.
NICE finishing score, and my vote not one of those that would have made it go down.

Thanks for sharing your technique. This is a wonderful effect. If I didn't know better, I would think you used an overlay.

This looks layered and it looks fantastic. So that's how you do textured shots without textures or layers. Thanks and 'gratz on top 5.

I'm ever so pleased a mere quirk in file size led to this submission. Even more pleased your camera danced!!

I like this effect, like some kind of strange old parchment. I give you the posthumous blue ribbon.

Gorgeous. Its really easy to make an interesting picture by moving the camera but pretty darn hard to make something that is artistically valid like what you've done.

I'd love to know how you did this without blurring the branch of leaves. I'm guessing a long expsure with the last moments focused on it? Gorgeous! The overlay you created is wonderful.
