This is beautifully simplistic, an excellent composition.

Hmmm..... well I think it gains by being centered :-) An image well worth looking at for a while.

very interesting shot, but I think it loses a little being centered. I'm not a stickler on rule of thirds, by any imagination, but I actually think more foreground and less sky, the horizon at the top third line, might be stronger. 7

Oh, what a wonderful, surreal image. Absolutely gorgeous. Among best of show.

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives:This is a very well crafted image which benefits from great clarity and a bold composition. The mirrored surface offers a great reflection which make the board look like a Flash Gordon rocket! You've captured a real feeling here - looking at the image makes me want to take a deep breath and smell the sea air.

Critical stuff: The very simple composition may not have enough immediate 'ooomph' for rapid-fire voters so I hope they pause long enough to soak in the atmosphere.

Overall: A very clean and fresh image - overall, extremely effective.
