Thanks for all the comments and faves! :)
The shot did a lot better than I expected.

It was a very fun experience to be out shooting in the pouring rain. A first for me and from now on, rain or shine shall bring photographic opportunities. So if it's raining you could get a new angle on things to shoot, no time to be lazy ;)
After getting somewhat soaked, glady the 20D and companion G10 made it out alright. Special thanks to Pawdrix for making me go out that day by not cancelling the meetup. I don't get the chance to frequent the city as often as I would've liked and it was well worth the trip.

Just checking out my favorites folder and fell in love with this photo all over again. I love shooting in the rain (as long as my camera is protected).

Did not get to comment when in voting but I definitely fell in love with the mood and magic captured here that I fav'ed it right away. Love the dynamic tones and the water drops that appear like jewels on the bare branches. Gratz on the high finish - a very lovely image.

Perfectly titled, and a wonderful photo. Like a small theater simply waiting for patrons. The lights are already lit in anticipation.

Neat! I love the drops on the branches. What cool effect. This photo feels very very wet. I like it. It might have been even better if the boats were better framed by the branches; they sort of creep into them a bit, which makes them harder to appreciate.

I really really like the reflected water drops above juxtaposed with the soft focus boats below. Inspired.

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - sometimes I find myself commenting on images that span niche and mainstream audiences, this is one of those images! I'll be picking one of the images I commented on in this series for the Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives: A very beautiful image that benefits from your choice of where to focus. The boats , though out of focus are no less a fundamental subject of the image that your crisp branches. The light and colour here are quite magnificent - you really have captured the essence of this rainy day. This image has the feel of someone who is right at the top of their game - I'm eager to find out who crafted this.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all.

Overall: 10 and a fav, enough said!

this is quite interesting to me...I like the little drops of water that look like lights in the trees and I like the "feel" that I get with the boats

The water glistening in the branches is great and works well against the deluged boats

Awesome!

I think you pretty much nailed a scene I've been been wishing I could shoot for awhile. There's a great low hanging tree by my work that always has drips on it like this. The scene behind it is unfortunately just a parking lot. Thanks for showing me how it's done!
