You're a point & shoot wizard! Gotta love those little cameras.
You found the right thing for the challenge, processed it nicely, and kicked butt.
B&W is right for this scene, and the low angle getting the trees behind the bike give it an extra bit of texture that makes a big difference.

this is an awesome picture, I love everything about it. I keep hearing good things about the camera you used too! I showed your photo to my sister, who's looking for a new camera, as evidence as to the amazing capabilities of this camera (in the right hands like yours of course!)

Looking forward to seeing more of your shots...congrats on the blue ribbon!

Wow. This was a weird surprise to come home to tonight. I feel bad for the other new person who lost their ribbon though. :( Not sure anyone wants to get a first place this way so its bittersweet.

ty you all again for the comments!

Amazing. Out of 160+ entries? I literally jumped out of my car and snapped a few pictures on sports mode because I was losing the sun. I never used the sports mode before and held the camera at knee level not even looking at the LCD monitor. I didnt have much time and had to wait for the kids to do stuff with the bikes. I just pointed in the general direction and snapped. After about 15 pictures my fingers began to freeze up so I went back to my car and hoped I got something good. I like it in black and white because it looked creepy and I loved the zombie comments! Ty everyone for all of your newbee support and Im very very happy! I love that it was chosen as a favorite! Snaffles is right. The bar is set high now. I just hope I do as good in other challenges.

Great shot, but watch the compression. I can see obvious compression artifacts around the main subject in the foreground. Always adjust JPEG compression so that your file size is as large as possible, but within the challenge limit.
