I think this is an important choice, and one that we often make too lightly. I face this one all the time.

A quick shot, minimal setup. Just a couple of 500W halogen lights to help show off the broken glass.

Yes, I had to break a martini glass for this, but I found one with a small crack in it anyway.

To be perfectly blunt and with out tact in my observations:

*Too many keys
*Needs a little more realism (like suggested below.

Other wise, I love it and I don't think that the right should have been cropped off a little. I like how the light comes in.

Great shot but the picture seems somewhat static. I'd liked to have seen the glass being shot in mid-tilt as it was spilling or at least see an alcohol puddle on the table. A coaster or rings of water beneath the glass would've also added realism if not being a distraction by adding too many elements to the photo. Furthermore, a tad too many keys me thinks. Perhaps 3 would've gotten the idea of a keychain across.

Other than that, nice lighting and great focus. Perhaps I would've cropped a slice off the right side as well as the composition does feel heavy on the left.

I guess being online since 06/13/2004 10:52:07 PM paid off! Nice photo :)

The message is clear. Congratulations on the top ten finish. Hope to see more of your work, hopefully in the ribbon column soon.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm thrilled to have my first top ten finish, especially after last week's close 14th. This shot has really grown on me, and I'm glad that people voted some of the important life choices into the top ten.

I'm really thrilled. This site is growing quickly to mean a lot to me and my new hobby of photography. All your feedback is invaluable to me.

Great use of selective desaturation. The only quibbles I have are that the keys are a little too bulky (do they have to reach all the way around the base?), that the liquid no longer has a definite 'edge' to it and that the lighting is a little bit harsh. Otherwise, nicely done.

Dramatic - but hopefully not a real "choice." Border detracts.

Think this picture would be better with only one key in it and keychain.

I love the way this image presents a very important and potentially dangerous subject in such a visually beautiful way. The composition is just sheer joy, from the soft curves and colours in the top left to the harsh angles and metallic tones in the centre. The shadows even enhance the "scattered" effect. Also the texture on the background is just perfect.

Very original new take on "don't drink and drive". Well done and absolutely great composition. The orange is the perfect attention grabber and accent, and very crisp focus on it.

I like the theme here, and the photo, but it really doesn't fit the theme. 4.

Great subject and use of colors here. Cropping more centrally might have improved framing a little, as the composition is more heavily weighted to the left.... 7

Good visual representation of the consequences of your choice. I also like the way the lights play off the broken glass. Very nice.
