Post challenge: This did much better than expected, just happened to have my camera with us when we went on a walk. Max first jumped over this boggy ground running away from us - I asked him to do it again running towards us. I wasn't really happy with the sharpness here so I got him to do it a few more times but the enthusiasm wasn't there on the later shots - he never jumped as high again so I went with this first, pretty spontaneous, capture.

Thanks for the votes and comments.

WD on your HM. Was the child laughing or running from a bear? :)

Wow fantastic shot mate, there is something very Bresson about this which I really really like. He almost looks like he's coming out of the screen at you. My favourite in this challenge by miles, well done and 'grats on the HM.

Great on every account. Good composition, great DOF, and the choice for b&w almost sepia is excellent.
Good job!

Oh this is great! Terrific composition and use of the diagonal line (my favorite). Great tones. I guess if I could sharpen his face a smidege, that'd be my only tweak, but overall, just terrific. 9

Very nice. This is the first image I get to vote on, and I can already say I think this deserves top 10... at least. Great shot.

This is great. If you could have gotten more contrast out of it, or adjusted the tones to bring out highlights and shadows even slightly more, it would have been even more successful, though that would be difficult with the even tones of the woods and the limitation of basic. 8
