El Condor Pasa, written by D.A. Robles-J. Milchberg - English lyric by Paul Simon

I’d rather be a sparrow than a snail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I’d rather be a hammer than a nail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

Away, I’d rather sail away
Like a swan that’s here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground,
He gives the world its saddest sound
Its saddest sound.

I’d rather be a forest than a street.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I’d rather feel the earth beneath my feet,
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would.

Taken on a very foggy New Year's Eve afternoon.

I showed this to a friend prior to the challenge and he said "but it looks moored, like it can't sail away" and I said "Yes, that's correct" since that, to me, is what the song is about.

Oddly, at this point in my life I'm about to sail away again and am thinking I would rather be moored. The longest I have lived anywhere is from birth to 6 years of age. Next longest stretch is the four years I was in college, but not the summers. So at this point, I'm thinking running aground and staying there for a bit might be nice.

Fun challenge - I still have Paul Simon songs going 'round in my head, and am very pleased with how this fared. Now time to disconnect the main computer and box it up. Hopefully no one wants the original. Heh! (Note to self - transfer to other hard drive....)

I have to admit, that I am one who does not really know many of Paul Simon's songs. He's too deep and sometimes too moody for me lol. I think this shot is a good representation of the kind of mood that I imagine him having. The day is not bright and sunny, but the scene is potentially one that would make him think and reflect on personal moments. I love the mist/fog - it's dreamy in a somber way :) Congrats on a 6+ score :)

Perfect for the lyric. This was one of my top scoring images. I love the fog and the bright bit of sky behind the masts.

Well, in my defense, I don't know the song, or didn't, and the working title was "Sail Away", so... It makes a lot more sense as "I'd rather sail...", so there!

Anyway, nice finish!

A little gray on gray for me, and it would fit better with the lyric is the boat was sailing away from the camera. And the bridge does not connect with the lyric.
