Thank you all for the nice comments and votes, it's been a very exciting week, a huge breakthrough for me! Both score wise and my first Ribbon!! (Hopefully not the last)

This is an old lady living in the Fujian province. She is 80 years old and still extremely healthy (as you can see). I was there to study the Earthen buildings (Tulou or Hakka buildings) they live in and was lucky enough to capture her on her way home with her goose.

(Will upload a few more photos from this trip)

Congrats on the ribbon, very well done and powerful image.

But, aren't those ducks?
01/17/2010 06:50:34 PM
Great work, Zi! The woman herself is a strong enough presence, but the geese really are the icing on the cake. Well done.
01/16/2010 01:26:55 PM
Congrats on the well-deserved blue. The woman by herself would have done very well, but the presence of the geese really takes it to the top.
01/15/2010 09:33:59 AM
Congrats, Zi -- I was one of your "9" votes. Terrific shot, the geese are a wonderful element.

She's 80?? She's gonna live to be 120. Fine, fine photograph and by FAR the best of show. Congratulations on a very well deserved blue!

Ohhhhhh. . . 1 in 7 billion indeed! I love the sweet, contented expression on her face. She is loving her time with her geese, isn't she.

Three times happy: the picture itself, the good voice of the people, and the master of fun's seal of approval. We should all have a sip of tea and retire with a breath of sweetness.

Double whammy, the real blue and the Posthumous Blue, can't get better than that really. Well done, it is a truly wonderful image.

I'm also glad this won. It's not often when you come across a blue ribbon winner where the wow factor was in it's authenticity. No wonder it also took the Posthumous Blue Ribbon. Congratulations!

This is probably going to get other ribbons as well, but I just can't help myself. It's clearly the best picture and best fulfillment of the challenge, even if there are tons of women who walk their geese all over town.

Posthumous Blue Ribbon,
