Self-explanatory. Two Clydesdales mares, each the size of a Lincoln Navigator, galloping through powder snow. Yes, they are also my Friends entry from last summer.

Boy, there is nothing more fun than running through shin-deep snow on a cold day, camera in hand, hollering 'YIP YIP YIP! YEEEAAAAHHH!' like a madwoman at a couple of horses who don't really feel like going anywhere in a hurry!

So I came back the next day and did the same thing again, until they decided to do more than just trot and actually put some effort into this shot. By the end of the session they were enjoying themselves, if a little winded. I only chased them enough to get them going, then stopped and snapped, then chased them again. Good workout, and what a great shot the girls gave me!

Hi from the Critique Club, snaffles,

I think you've done a great job with this image. The tonal range is excellent, and you did a fantastic job to hold the highlights in the sky and snow while still keeping detail in the horses. Your framing is great (they have room to run into), the rim lighting is nice, and you've got a very complementary background. I think your high number of 7+ scores represents the image nicely.

Well done!

Geoff

I was so sure that you'd be doing horses, but I never remembering a movement shot from you. This is truly spectacular! I gave it a 9. You really need to frame this one and hang it. Absolutely wonderful!

Great action capture...if resolution allows, I would consider cropping just the galloping horse.

Could this be snaffles. I think it's wonderful - they look like they're having a lot of fun with that snow! Excellent job with the contrasts.

This captures the unbounded sense of Freedom and Joy found by the wild and domesticated creatures in Nature. The black and white fits this perfectly and the snowy ripples are delightful - kick up your heels and dance!

Great b&w action shot of these fine horses. Are they Belgians? My family in Iowa raised Belgians for many generations. Looks like the territory and horses of snaffles. 9
