Challenge: Signature Style (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Nikon D300s
Lens: Nikon AF Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G IF-ED DX
Location: Lizard Head Rock, Rye backbeach
Date: Jan 13, 2010
Date Uploaded: Jan 12, 2010

The Image: we are on holidays at Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula. I decided this was a place to return to as it's been a place of success for me. As I got there and was about to set up and I saw these seagulls and had a split second to go snap. I got the shot but thought it wouldn't work. I took a couple of hundred shots, but on getting back to my computer, this one was best.

The Edit: B and W, some multiply layer masks, d and b and USM. Cloned out some sensor dust. I edited on my netbook, so I have no idea how this really looks.

The Prediction: maybe 6.3478

Way to go, Enzo! I didn't know it was you cuz you have such a varied style - the only common thing being awesomeness - and I was too lazy to go searching around for similar images. Anyway, this was an easy 10 from me regardless of who shot it.

...but now I see the comment about the sensor dust and I see it and am having second thoughts... :P

The wide-angle perspective really gives this an ominous feeling. Excellent lens choice!

Is this hotpasta? It might be a little too dark for his style. But that's my guess lol.

Beautiful shot. I love the dark tones. The birds flying around certainly enhance the mood. Very cool.

This is one of my favourites in the challenge, and given the quality of submissions, that's saying a lot... but given the likely photographer, no surprise that I like it. Title is a give away (for someone who has admired your work for some time) and I have to say that I much prefer this to the previous Lizard Head Rock photo... the birds, the processing and the fisheye lens... all add something extra, something special, to the image. Love it.

Signature Style Guess: hotpasta

I really don't care for fish-eyed pictures, but I can live with this one because it's wonderful! I truly makes a statement and stands out in a crowd! -8-

My brain is hurting...
Is it the lighting? The shadows? The contrast? The fisheye effect? The square framing?
What about the tilted horizon? And have you no respect for the rule of thirds? What's this centering of the subject?
I want to know right now how can you possibly manipulate such challenging variables into a masterpiece!!!

Wonderful drama, nice addition with the birds. Excellent tones with great detail. Clearly Enzo. I must admit I don't like the fisheye, personal taste, but the birds are an excellent addition. Great work as always, good luck. 8
