Challenge: Best of 2009 (Advanced Editing VII*)
Collection: 2010
Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35
Date: Sep 26, 2009
Aperture: F3.0
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/8
Galleries: Portraiture, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Jan 19, 2010

Guess I'll try something different this year and go down the "artsy" path. Temptation to pull a shot from numerous Shenandoah Park outings is strong, but I figure there will be a TON of outstanding landscapes, wildlife shots, and regular portraits in this.

Maybe a 5.6 on this? Hard to tell. :-)

Processing steps:
Silkypix
- RAW to TIFF
PSP X2
- resize
- rotate left (auto crop) about .21
- levels (16,110,205)
- Virtual Photographer: BW Impact
- resize
- clone out table logo
- border
- save as JPG

Strangest thing...decided to make a minor adjustment to this at the last minute and when I went to save (with 800 pixels) the file size was 300.7kb. I figured no biggee, I'll slice off 1 pixel on all sides to 798...file size went up to 301.6! Grrr... Take another slice - no help. Finally at 794 I was able to barely get under 300kb. That was an interesting exercise. :-/

Great photograph, love it. Scored it well. Fess up...he has the paddle there because you were pelting him at will and he couldn't take it anymore! ;)

I love this! The lines, the shapes, the tones, and the non symmetrical blocks of texture. It all works to add to the fun of mysteriousness.

Expert composition. This will be among my top picks.

A TEN from me, one of two I'm handing out in this challenge. Great stuff.

Remarks: an amusing, left-brained intrigue... I imagine it due to the flat, linear composition. Bravo!

If this doesn't get a Posthumous... I'll have words... This is wonderful for its uniqueness... it's what I wish I was brave enough to do with my photography. Love it! I can only give this one score (despite having given it an 8 initially)... that's a 10.

brilliant & brave !! I am starting to appreaciate shots like this. the leading line to the paddle really works well , a sense of mysteriousness , humour , details and PP. 9 from me.

This is a cool shot. I think it would be equally as cool if the paddle weren't in front of the face. I like the composition.

i am not sure if i like this yet
the concept is good the subject seems a little strange almost cut out and pasted in
perhaps if he was not central that would add another aspect to the image just my 2 cents worth

fantastic, fun image that reminds me of something we might see in a book on a famous artist. DuChamp, Magritte or someone like that.

I love the way the table takes up a strangely large amount of the composition and the situation is so matter-of-fact and simple.

Though I like the obtuse here and there, I don't have enough with either the title or the image to tell the story for me.......4

True art. really brilliantly composed. I cant decide if I want to see the kids face and yet maybe thats part of the intrigue of the shot. Love the white line running straight to him and yet have the nets white line accross further barring contact with the faceless kid. I have 445 pictures to comment on...And im wasting time and dont have time but ill be thinking about this shot forever and a day 9
