This is not posed and I have a witness ( mephisto) who can verify this scene was something we simply came upon.

(Borrowed this from my portfolio at 1x because my hard drive with this file on it hasn't arrived yet.)

[Jan. 22nd, 2010 07:44:07 PM]

Hard drive arrived - yay! Not that I'll be needing the original to defend my top five or anything - just glad to get the hard drive. :-)

I love this picture. DPC doesn't love it as much, but that's OK. I'm pleased with the score (currently at my average - isn't that nice for a "best of" thing!) and the comments and the fav from Ben. It's all good!

[Jan. 28th, 2010 02:30:36 PM]

P.S. The guy looking in the trash is looking for recyclables. Bottles both glass and plastic are worth cold, hard cash.

So it didn't hit 6 from the voters, but it did win a pretty blue ribbon from a jury! How VERY cool is that? I'm flabbergasted! Thanks very much!!

This so, so cool shot has so much in it. The first thing I noticed was the guy checking out the bin. Then, that photographer! Lol.

This is one of those images that will scream at folks... or barely whimper. I gave it a 5... *cringe*

But, I should have studied it more. I'm glad it gave you a good place in the side challenge!

I love this capture and your processing is perfect!
Wonderful scene to happen upon...and kudos to you for "seeing it".

This reminds me of a Norman Rockwell painting. I liked it the first time I saw this and I like it more now.

The more I look at this shot, the more wonderful it is. It looks like a compliation of shots and I am amazed to read it's actually not. Talk about being in the right place at the right time AND seeing it. Can't get much more perfect than this for a candid. Processing choice is fabulous, too.

Hate typos. :)

I voted this a 7, but I wasn't sure if it was posed or not. For not being posed this is amazing! Nice Job!

Congrats on your juried blue Deb!! I was already familiar with this shot at 1x - I love the way it 'looks' set-up, I love the colour palette too!

Well done.

Such a lot going on here. This could be a Rockwell illustration -- there is so much character in it. I like your processing, I think it suits the scene perfectly. It is so clear and alive. Excellent.

Oh, hah! This is yours! I gave it an 8, I think it borders on the believably surreal, if that makes any sense. Great job, Deb!

Incredibly surreal for not being setup! Incredible either way, really. You did a great job on everything here, Deb. A visual feast!

Ha, I thought this was muur88 as well. I figured he had taken a trip to Germany this year!

So much going on, and I like the bits of turquoise/green. As someone told me, there are some great photos way down here! ;-)

This is GREAT. What a slice of life. I thought I was New York city for sure for a second. But no. It's probably Hamburg. It looks like it, but I'm not sure. Wherever it is, it's a great candid.

Now I feel disappointed that you didn't submit the gorillapod portrait as your best of photo...;-)
But yes, this one definately is a high calibre street shot and deserves the attention it is getting from people!
I, too, would love to see a b&w version of this btw.

You know, I thought this was going to be a muur88 shot. I thought it was staged too. I loved all the stories in this shot! What a fond little farewell photo too. Should have scored higher!

I figured a good chance that a shot obviously located in Frankfurt was yours. I still have an 80's map of Frankfurt on my bookshelf. I'm interested in finding out if this is where I think it is. Of course, after 28 years, I may not be able to find the exact location I am thinking of.

Placed pretty darn well for the yearly super-freestudy.

The location brings me a sense of deja vu. This may be the place in Frankfurt where I remember seeing a woman with 2 awfully cute kids singing "Rockin' Robin" in German. (Quite memorable!) That was in the early 80's however, and could be a different part of the city. Is there a Bahnhof under the surface here?

Classic Deb. I'll be shocked if it's not her swan song in German.

I remember seeing this shot, must have been way back at the start of the year and really liking it then, Melethia if I remember right.

There's so much to look at in this shot, it's like all little parts of life happening at the same time, but my favorite part has got to be the really obscure stance the girl is taking the photo from, and the photo she's taking of that guy with the bored expression!

Lots to explore here. But ... why is that man examining the contents of the trash can? Looks like he's about to stick his hand in and extract something!

So much to see and the perfect exposure to see all the busyness. That's what makes this a stellar street candid. Love it!

i love the colors and clarity in the shot.. and that man looking inside what seems like a garbage can is just adding so much too the shot.. Don't know if the people in the shot are posing .. but you have done a great job at finding the right place and right time to shoot! 8

Truly an awesome street shot, Deb. I know I commented on it last time I saw it, but here's another one for ya. I love the guy looking in the trash. Extra bonus points for the left foot being just slightly off the ground.
