GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

Sometimes I just love this job. Yeah, you got a low score, so what. this is an image that means a great deal to you and your model is beautifully rendered. yeah, the background isn't so hot, but I rather think you just didn't see it. The figure is lovely and powerful and that drew your attention and you handled it with care.

While here, I looked through your portfolio a little and found other images that tell a story. rather than looking for 'photographic excellence' whatever that is, you seem to go for the story. (your picture with the flower & keys is an example)

Well, you've done it again. No, it didn't resonate with the voters, but who cares. You know why you took it and entered it, and that's what counts.

I look forward to your next entry. You bet.

Alice

Thanks for the comments. In retrospect, this probably would have done much better if I'd darkened the curtains to black.
This was a shot of a live performance, and was one of the back row dancers in a group of about a dozen. The River Dance Company is dedicated in using dance in Christian worship, so think "praising God" as a context for the picture.
I loved the expression on her face.

Different, at least!

You did a good job on the exposure. The background is distracting and the overall appeal to the viewer is lacking IMO , 5

looks almost like a painting.

Interesting pic. I cant say the pose works to capture much emotion but it does make one stop think and wonder. Her right hand needs to be up as well for a different feel to it. Feet also placed in an akward mid movement pose - even is she was dancing. If she was dancing you also want more dynamics in the pic

I'm trying to imagine the music that goes with this. Sleeping Beauty maybe?
Love it.

From a play or something of that sort? Right hand is a little blurry and the backdrop is distracting, but I assume you didn't have much choice in that :)

I really think this has potential. In the thumbnail it looks like a vintage dance image - maybe something out of the 30's. But in the large version, something is missing... can't put my finger on it. It's a little snap shottish, for one.

Basically a decent image compositionally, but the variopus points of blur distract me from the main focus greatly......4

I think the photograph would of been better of you would of had more focus on her hands....since, shes looking upward towards them....

It's a tad soft -- I imagine it was challenging lighting. Also, it would be good to see who or what she's intereacting with. If nothing, then maybe there was a more interesting moment to capture.

You've caught an artist with your camera. Love her serious expression and expressive arms.

A good candid shot, a bit of blur but I imagine you were shooting under less than ideal circumstances.

There is too much noise in this image. The subject lacks interest and the background is a distraction
