 Dawn in Estes Park, CO. Elkhorn Ave. is the main street. The Christmas lights are still up. This is the off-season, so even in the middle of the day, there would only be a few people. The temperature was -4 degrees. F. at 6:29 am on 1/26/10. This is a 23 second exposure. Tripod mount, of course.

For a 23 second exposure at f/16, the cars move fast enough to simply not register on the camera sensor. But, the taillights and headlights do register. It's a nice ghost effect. I used a shutter release cable with a lock button. The camera was set to "B" (bulb). And, I just guessed on the amount of time to keep the shutter open from past experience.

There's so much going on in this photograph, that it makes me smile and imagine things. Like, what if the red light would have turned green and they were both showing? Would have been great. And like: The white car lights are passing like a "swoosh" and the red ones like a "bumpetebump".
