Challenge: Pieces of the Human Form (Advanced Editing VII)

We were in Chatham, on Main Street, shooting for the Main Street challenge (which I'm doing quite poorly at, thank you for asking) and I saw a games store (actually a bunch-of-stuff-store, but they had games too) and so I popped in to ask if they had any new boxes of Trivial Pursuit cards. Which they didn't. But the young man I was querying, who was holding down the fort alone, was just so danged striking I asked if I could take his picture. He said sure, and I did.

I wasn't particularly thinking of this challenge, this was a full headshot with some background, horizontal format, but in the process of zooming in to do some color work on the lips I realized it made quite a compelling bits-n-pieces entry; or so it seems to me anyway.

I'll probably get murdered for the pores, but it's not like I went overboard (he said plaintively). I mean, I actually DID go overboard — you should see the one Penny and my neighbors made me ditch, THAT one was topazed to the gills and beyond.

This one isn't, and to me the skin details are part of the whole reality experience. I can't see the point of doing this challenge with an airbrush, can you?

Amazing how much you can crop a 5D image, I'll tell ya that...

I did like this one, and I thought his face showed a lot of character. His eyes tho - what kind of editing was involved. I was on the fence at first but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. I felt it served it's purpose of making me stare and wonder.

The eye color is odd - is that a bit enhanced or are his eyes really that reddish side of brown? He might be a vampire, you know... :-) I think this is a wonderfully whimsical portrait!
