[After Challenge]
Something wrong went with my camera and I can’t explain how it happened. The date was set a few days in advance relative to the real date, giving a shooting date after the Submission Dates: Jan 27 2010 - Feb 2 2010.

The RAW file says this image was shoot on Feb 06 2010.

What really hurts me (isn’t the DQ) but disappointing you all with this unforgiving mistake. I've already sent the prof. I'm just waiting for the DQ.

I’m sorry.
Lesson learned: - Always check the date!
~Jorge

Sorry to hear about the DQ. I had to pull a few entries for the same reason as well. Sometimes my computer takes on a timetravel and I get crazy dates on my camera when I plug it in.

I was going to say what Posthumous already said.
But I'll add - how could they let this happen?
And how could 10 people have voted a ONE?

Exactly what happened to me, back when I'd got my first dSLR. My only DQ to date. All I could do was send the file info in and announce in the photographer's notes that I was dead meat. So, my sympathies...

I always knew you were a man "ahead of your time" and well ahead of all of us by the unparalleled excellence and dedication of your work, but sometimes being an artist ahead of your time may be a painful process...:-( I'm sorry to this one DQ'd and despite it's unheralded status will still always carry the True Blue.

Bummer.

Reminds me of my DQ when I was off by exactly 1 year … Even after I got the DQ and looked at the date, it didn't make sense! WHo checks the year?

Anyway, congrats on another great one - look forward to seeing more.

Whatever the date, whenever the time, challenge or no, this is a great shot! Congratulations on a job well done.
Me thinks it should be obvious that the picture had to be taken within the challenge date range - the image date is not before the challenge, and the image had to exist in order to be included in the voting. What a bummer!

Honestly I don't know for sure what I would be more bummed about, the DQ which obviously does suck. or the fact that 28 people scored this 4 or lower when it was a Blue Ribbon Winning Effort. 10 1's is absolutey pathetic. This is not a case of it being a bad photo. It is a case of people who shouldn't vote on an image at all if the content is not to their liking and they are only slapping it a 1 for that reason. Congrats on the Ribbon anyway, and sorry that you had it taken away.

Sorry about the DQ. It always breaks my heart to see a winner get DQed for reasons such as this. My worst reason is 'not submitting the original when asked to validate' that just burns me up.

No matter though, it's a great image. Now get your camera checked so this doesn't happen again. ;)

I really wish DPC can make an exception, clearly the shot was taken during the time frame and with the challenge in mind and having a date as further in time is a clear indication that no foul play was attempted!

Would hate to see you stripped of a well deserved ribbon!

Ohhhhhhhhh. .. Jorge! I am so sorry! Hey. Don't worry about disappointing US at ALL! It has happened to so many of us anyway (and it most certainly isn't an unforgivable mistake). Our only disappointment is disappointment for YOU for losing your well-deserved blue ribbon!

It sure is an awesome photo! And you are such a genius!

P.S. I just noticed that this won with flying colors even with 10 1's!!! That is just beyond imagination that 10 people so pathetically did that! But even more of a tribute to this photography to survive that!

And I completely agree with that, but I would have assumed that 1-3 rating would be reserved for images which lack both content/topic and technical merit. Perhaps it's just me but if I find the image "average" I rate it about 5, maybe my interpretation of the 1-10 scale differs from the rest of the DPC community. Just for the sake of transparency I voted a 6 for this particular image.

You seriously never heard the phrase "Hotter than Hell?" Damn, I must be old. LOL.

Oh, I know the phrase perfectly well, although I don't see the tie-in to the photo--unless "Hotter than Hell" comes from "The Seven Year Itch." Haven't seen the movie, so perhaps we can just chalk this up to my ignorance.
