Very nice

Greetings from the Critique Club.

Manuel, you have captured the essence of this beautiful young woman wonderfully.

You have harnessed natural beauty, elegance and mystique all together in one shot. The big dark eyes and pouting lips tell a meaningful story here. One immediately gets lost in the subjects glance. I as a viewer gather that she is questioning something, see that thoughts lay heavy on her mind. The perfect Background/DOF reinforces that feeling.

The crop, the hair, the location are all perfect to set the stage for the drama that is opening up in this shot. The soft focus on the models shoulder was well executed to further insure that the viewer is focused on the young lady's facial features.

The brighter than normal lighting on the models left is excellent as it places emphasis on the left eye and works quite well in adding to the emotion of the shot.

If there is anything that you could have possibly done to make this shot better, it might have been to reflect just a small amount of soft light on the right side of the models face. Lighting just enough to bring a bit more detail of the right eye and cheek, without making her shirt any lighter.

This, such a wonderfull capture, stands alone as an intricate portrait or could be used to set up an emotional journalistic story.

Great Job…

Andy

Reminds me of Librodo's work even more with that name under the title now. ;-)

Congrats on a well-deserved top 10.

Lighting: Wonderful lighting, but I would prefer the catchlight be over to her right a bit more since her eyes are so dark.
Pose: great.
Background: cluttered.

Lighting with such a strong contrast seems like it would be difficult to pull of nicely. You have done this here. Great cropping/composition. Background is a touch distracting, but it does not detract greatly.

This belongs in the top 10. Reminds me of Librodo's moody portraits. Contrast is just a bit too high for me though- a little more light on the left would balance it out nicely.

I think this is a good use of contrasty, oblique lighting, even though on my monitor it's a teensy bit brighter than I might have made it.

Beautiful lighting for this subject. The background desaturation helps make this pop.

There is a lovely glow to the light here. While the background is a blur, the mottled light and patterns give depth to the photo without distracting. The brightest spots on her face seem a bit too bright, and the shadowy side feels a bit mottled.

Stunning photograph. The skin looks over processed in the brighter spots but it's still a beautiful image.

right, easy one this. beautiful model, great lighting, fantastic DOF (i love the greyish blurry backdrop), great pose and great cropping. perhaps a little too much softening? dunno, left eyebrow seems less defined than the right one. maybe that's due to the lighting though... still, very good - 9

Harsh light ... beautiful woman.

06/30/2004 12:26:03 PM
lighting is too harsh on one side of her face and it's too dark on the other, not that it has to be exactly balanced but this is just a little extreme to work for me, other than that a very good shot

Great photo. The use of shadows creates an imbalanced composition which I like because it gives it the feel os an "untraditional" portrait. The model has very beautiful facial features and your use of lighiting on a single side to sillouhette her really emphasizes those features. This contrast of light and dark also brings out the depth of her dark eyes. NIce work ...... 9

I think this is a nice portrait, however the lighting seems a blit too dark. Her head fades into the background.

Stunnig model and expression. Your background is the weakest part of this image. Exceptional side lighting.

Ahh..here come the top shots.
I was feeling alright until I saw this..now I`m wondering why I bothered submitting.
Fabulous lighting..the only nitpick is the soft, blurry area on the forehead.
Definitely a ribbon winner.

Almost perfect. All is silky smooth, but perhaps lips should have been softer to match the rest. Yet, it is a strong image.

Lovely shot - quite sensuous. I think she wants me. :D

I'd have cloned out the slight imperfection by her nose, but otherwise this is sumptuous.
