And a beautiful young lady she is. I realize you were probably going for a soft focus here but it came out more blurred to me than a soft effect and the hair in her face is really a bit of distraction. Did she just come out of the shower, hence the wet, tousled look? It's a classic pose and well done, just needs a bit more focus and a bit more light, it comes across a bit dull on that aspect. A 5

Lighting: Evenly lit, but with a slight cast and no catchlight to give the eyes some expression.
Pose: Works, but the motion blue is distracting. A soft focus would have worked better.
Background: Her hair is the main element of the background and works well.

Sorry, but this looks more like a quick snapshot of her after a shower than a planned and posed portrait.

Good attempt at a moody. evocative look; on my monitor it could use maybe just a touch more contrast.

Skin tones and background go together very well! Nice subtle lighitng that brings out depth without blown out highlights. Nice soft focus. Kudos

This has potential...it needs to be in sharper focus. I understand that you may have been going for a soft focus look, but there's a fine line between soft focus and out of focus. You are close, however. I like the composition of the shot, her downward gaze, and the warm lighting. :o)

Love the look but do not like the exposure

I like the semi-messed up hair, gives it a realistic look. It's like a portrait of someone in real life, not just a set-up perfect model. I think the lighting could be a bit better.

looks like her hair was probably moving when you took the shot, also maybe a little under exposed. The crop and closeness gives it a nice feel though.

I think that's the exact title of the last one I voted on! Your image has a very "moody" feel and an unusual composition. Focus on the eyes seems a bit soft.

Of course one is open to misunderstanding taking a stance on the challenge theme, but it seems to me the 'formal studio portrait' element was pretty strongly stated. This looks like a crop from a snapshot, I fear: weak and indistinct lighting, poor processing; a certainn moodiness, but the cropping lets it down and doesn't bring much life to the image. It seems the kind of thing that would benefit hugely from a black and white presentation - and that tells as much about its suitability for this challenge as anything else. 3

Photo is lacking some lighting.

Nice composition and getting close. It is a touch out of focus. Always want the eyes to have good focus on them.

Well, you like this shot offcourse, because she is your love, but to me it looks out of focus.
A bit more sharpness would do this portrait good IMHO.

I quite like this shot.
It's technically not the greatest, but i like her expression and the way you have posed her
Good luck
This shot looks so much better in the thumbnail. I keep looking at it in the thumbnail and wondering why i only scored it a 7. Well i'm going to bump it up anyway.

Disheveled hair is distracting, but that's just me.

looks a touch out of focus. I like the expression

bit out of focus. Nice crop with the wild hair everywhere

This has the feel of a Renaissance painting.

This is a bit too soft focus. Her eyes appear very flat and lifeless. There is no sparkle. Her hair looks wet--an odd choice without some kind of background context to clue the viewer in.

Great pose and composition, lacking a little in sharpness/clarity....if it's soft focus then i dont think it's quite soft enough not to look like a mistake....in my opinion....if you know what i mean.......nice job though.
