So I just got a cable release and what better way to make use of it then doing a self portrait!

I have also way wanted to take a shot with venetian blinds with natural light flowing though, unfortunately I don't have any but I do have vertical drapes so I went with that.

Shot with indirect evening light so the blind was back lit to show of its texture, I used a high ISO to get some image noise (I could always add more later) with the lens wide open. I went with the pose as it reminds me of some old murder mystery/spy posters when they peek though the blinds.

The post production was done in Lightroom with the aid of SilverEffects Pro where most of the grain and 'structure' was added.

Terrific contrasts, moody, almost noirish. Excellent self portrait.

Definitely worth another look - was one of my higher scores as well.

This is a great shot, it received an 8 from me. I love the light and the darkness to it, for me there seems to be a sadness or depression in the look. Great work.

As you know, I thought this was fabulous and accomplished so I've offered the WALL? (Worth a Longer Look?) award in your direction:

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: A very interesting image which gets better and better the longer you look at it - give it long enough and it becomes rather special indeed. The tones, textures, grain and focus are all deployed to perfection. This is photographic mastery.

Critical stuff: Nothing (of course)

Overall: Dying to know who shot this - utterly accomplished; it makes me feel a little embarrassed about my work which is pedestrian by comparison.
